Read It Once Before You Need It

Read the band for your child’s age before the conversation comes up — it usually arrives unannounced, in the car or at bedtime. Then just use the wording. The question at the end of each band does more work than the explanation above it, so don’t skip it, and don’t fill the silence after you ask.
